Be the CME

Real drag physics · 3 rounds
Round 1/3

You are the storm.

Aim around the Sun, time your launch speed, then ride the solar wind out to Earth. Fast wind behind you pushes. Slow wind ahead drags. Earth keeps moving.

Hit it with your magnetic field pointing south and the aurora goes big. Catch the slow CME ahead of you and you become a compound storm.

What is a CME?
What's real here. Your speed follows the same drag model the live tracker uses: the CME relaxes toward the ambient wind speed, and fast CMEs feel less drag. The fast-wind streams are Parker spirals from coronal holes rotating with the Sun. The Kp you score comes from arrival speed, then your Bz orientation and a compound-storm bonus, which is roughly how real storms get decided. Earth's motion and the clock are sped up so a two day transit takes twenty seconds. What's not. Real CMEs can't steer and nobody can flip Bz on purpose. That's the whole reason forecasting is hard, and the whole reason this is a game.
